Heavy rain battering parts of the area

Thunderstorms producing very heavy rainfall continue to develop around the area. The Stormwatch observing site at Johnson County Community College has received nearly 2 1/2 inches of rain in the last hour alone! Many other areas have had well over an inch in a short amount of time. As you can expect, the National Weather Service has hoisted a Flash Flood Warning for Johnson County, KS. Additional storms exist through the area, also producing very heavy rain.

We'll likely see these storms continue to develop into the evening. Be careful if you are driving home tonight from those areas that have seen the heavy rainfall.
