Mid-Morning Snow Update

The first wave of precipitation is moving through the area, brining rain into KC, changing to sleet in St. Joseph. The lift with this storm remains very impressive, and this will play a big role in the changover to snow this afternoon. We also could see some thundersnow develop in some area, creating some locally heavy snow bands. On the flip-side, the track of the storm looks like it will take a slightly more northerly track, bringing the accumulating snow line closer to the south side of town.

I usually get nipped in the butt if I revise snow totals in the morning, and given the off-setting changes in the track/moisture/lift of the storm, I'll leave the current forecast mostly in tact.

KC south: Around 1 inch. Sleet will likely prohibit more significant accumulations
KC north: 1 inch to maybe 2 inches as you head toward Platte City.
NW MO: 2-4 inches.

Again... send snow totals to snow [!at!] kcweather {*,dot/} org or leave voice mail message at 206-350-KCWX (206-350-5299).
