Hurricane Katrina 1-month anniversary PSA

Hi…. This is Ed Roberts from the Kansas City Weather Podcast at KCweather.org with music from “Dennis Kitchen” and the Podsafe Music Network.

It has now been a full month since hurricane Katrina made landfall on the Gulf coast. Many areas in Louisiana and Mississippi are still uninhabitable, including much of the city of New Orleans. Although much of the initial trauma from the hurricane has now passed, there are still thousands of people without homes, jobs, or direction. Your help is still critical to all those effected by this disaster. If you haven’t donated your money, time, or other assistance, please consider contacting the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, or other reputable organizations and look for ways to help. …and please don’t forget to continue to support other organizations that you normally give to. These organizations often suffer greatly during times of disaster, and it’s many of these organizations that are now helping refugees from Katrina in your own community.

The needs of the victims of Katrina will continue for many months to come. Keep all those affected in your prayers, and don’t be afraid to open your arms to help. Thank you…
